PETER FEDOROWICH
Born: Feb 22, 1915
Date of Passing: Apr 08, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER FEDOROWICH It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden yet peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend Peter who passed away at his home on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the age of 91. Peter will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Diane of 65 years; his children, daughters, Sharon (Jim), Joan, and son, Jim (Carolyn); his grandchildren, Colleen (Terry), Grant (Vianna) and Christine (Mike); and his great-grandchildren, MandyLea, Michael, Evan, Kira, and Dawson. Peter will also be missed by his sister Mary, and many other family and friends. Peter will be greeted in heaven by his God; his parents, Harry and Julia; his brothers, Joseph and John; his sister Tena; his son-in-law Tom, and his best friend Ted. Peter was born February 22, 1915 in the North End of Winnipeg and moved to Transcona in 1941 where he lived until his passing. He learned his mechanics trade in local garages until he was hired on at CN. During his career he worked on various extra gangs and at the reclaim plant, until he could practice his machinist trade. He worked at Symington Diesel Shop before moving to the Back Shop in the Transcona Shops where he retired in 1980. His most dreaded experience was working on the infamous Dugald Wreck and would seldom talk about that experience. Peter was an affiliate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Transcona Branch until his passing. He particularly looked forward to his Tuesday lawn bowling league. Peter enjoyed working on the family's cars and building projects. He enjoyed his many fishing trips and family camping trips. He spent countless hours puttering in his garage. In his later years he spent his time surrounded by the family that he loved so dearly. He loved his trips to Grand Forks; he just plain loved to shop. He enjoyed the little pleasures of life like going out to eat, shopping, and putting up his Christmas decorations. He always made a point of remembering all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's birthdays. Each of them in their own way had a very special place in his heart. He was especially proud of MandyLea for becoming a teacher. He loved and entrusted Michael with his prize possession of his 1965 Pontiac. He loved being with Evan and Kira from Calgary and his daily high five visits from Dawson. He kept his strength up as his legs, hearing and back failed him. When his eyesight prevented him from his favourite hobby of riding around the streets and grocery stores of Transcona on his scooter he decided it was time for his final scooter ride. But we have faith and are comforted to know that since the Lord Jesus has taken you home that you can see, can hear, and are walking tall with Tom and Ted. We love you and miss you, our hearts break for you as we wait patiently until we meet again. A private family service was held on Tuesday, April 11, 2006. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter's memory may be made to the Prairie Dog Central-Vintage Locomotive Society Inc., P.O. Box 33021 RPO Polo Park, Winnipeg, MB R3G 3N4. Arrangements have been entrusted to Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., Transcona, MB, 222-6677.
