RUTH VIOLA STEFFENSEN Surrounded by her family, on Saturday, April 8, 2006, Ruth Steffensen passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 73 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Fritz and Albertina Hallberg, her husband John and her son Neil. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Linda (Rick) Anderson, grandchildren, Wes and Tanis, great-grandchild Nevan; son Wayne (Gail) Steffensen, grandchildren, Kim and Scott; sisters, Florie (Norm) Findlay and Linda (Joe) Fiorino. She will also be missed by her brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Ruth balanced her life as a mother while working outside the home at Eaton's and then Sears. She was a loving mother, sister and a friend to all. She'll always be remembered as Granny and for keeping our feet warm with knitted slippers and our tummies full with her famous shrimp dip. In tears we saw you sinking, we watched you fade away, you suffered much in silence, you fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, your spirit did not bend, but still you kept on fighting, until the very end. God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be, so he put His arms around you and whispered, come to Me. So when we saw you sleeping, so peaceful, free from pain, we could not wish you back to suffer that again. You didn't deserve what you went through so He took you home to rest, God's garden must be beautiful, for He only takes the best. Thank you to Auntie Florie and Auntie Linda for living these final days with us. Special thanks to all the staff of Palliative Care at St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ruth may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 A Celebration of her life was held on Wednesday, April 12 at Klassen Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tom Lurvey officiating.
