LAURA ROBINSON We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dearly beloved mother, aunt and sister, Laura Robinson on the evening of Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Victoria Hospital. At the age of 78 after a short battle with cancer. Laura died peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Tom (Barb) Robinson; sister Dorothy Gibson; brother Ed McShane (Helen); and nieces, Bunny Williamson (Richard); Lori Christie (Larry); Sharon McShane (Rod); nephews, Rocky Gibson (Shauna); Pat McShane (Brenda); Brian McShane; Mike McShane and many great nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Joker. Laura was predeceased by her husband, Robbie Robinson in 2001. Laura was born and raised in Holmfield, MB. She lived in numerous towns around Manitoba as her father was a station agent. While training to be a nurse, she contracted TB and spent five years in the Ninette Sanatorium. She then went on to take Teacher Training and taught one year in Winnipeg where she met her future husband, Robbie. They moved to Pine Falls where she taught for 26 years. They retired to Winnipeg and spent their winters in Texas. After Robbie died, she continued to drive to Texas on her own. Laura became a member of Sphinx Temple #116, Daughters of the Nile in 1976. She served as Queen during the Temple's 25 Anniversary year in 1981. She made many lifelong friends, in particular Bernice, Anne and Mary as she went up the line. During her year as Queen, with the help of Audrey Hill, the Sphinx Temple Choir was formed. As well as being an active member of the Sphinx Temple for 30 years, she was a dual member of Elidad Temple #134 in Corpus Christi, TX. She attended many Supreme Sessions across North America and was honoured with two Supreme Appointments. She was also a long time member of the Khartum Ladies Auxiliary. The family would like to thank the staff on floor five at Victoria Hospital especially Linda, Ala, Dr. Horvath and Dr. Maxwell for their care and compassion. A private family interment will be held.
