Date of Passing: Apr 12, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAURICE HENRY HEAD 1912 - 2006 After 94 years of life well lived, Maurice Henry Head, (Mo, Dad, Grampa), died on April 12, 2006 in Kenora, ON, at Pinecrest Home, with his bride of 66 years, Wynne, as always, by his side. In his youth, Maurice was a chorister, pianist, athlete, canoeist and outdoorsman. In his later years, a gardener, fisherman, tinkerer, photographer, advice giver, raconteur and cribbage player extraordinaire! But, above all, he was a dedicated family man. Mom and the family, Nancy (George), Elaine (Bruce), Rosemary (Jim) and his grandchildren, Andrea (Marty), Janeen (Lauch), Eliza (Peter), Jamey (Michelle), Arleigh (Jeff), Mirelle (Kyle) and goddaughter Heather Horton will cherish his influence and devotion. We will remember his humour, his integrity, his love of the natural world and his indomitable spirit. After his long and successful career, through the pioneering days of computers, from tabulation to management information systems at the Canadian Wheat Board in Winnipeg, Maurice with Wynne retired to Vancouver Island, living in Victoria and then Brentwood Bay. They travelled and enjoyed their many friendships, returning each summer to their beloved cottage Headacher on Coney Island, Kenora. And it was to Kenora they returned in their declining years, where they lived with and were lovingly cared for, by daughter Rosemary and her family, until moving recently to Pinecrest Home. The family wishes to thank Maurice's attentive friends and the staff at Pinecrest for their care. At Dad's request, family and friends will gather for a celebration of his life at his cherished Headacher in the summer. Remembrances can be made to the Anglican Appeal, Lake of the Woods District Hospital or a charity of choice.
