KENNETH MAIN DOWLER 1915 - 2006 It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Ken Dowler, at the age of 91, on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the Charleswood Care Home. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Nellie; and his sister Evelyn McNeil. He is survived by his wife Ivy (Trudi); and his stepsons, Bob Land (Kimmer) and Terry Land (Lynn); and his four grandchildren, Matthew, Robyn, Andrea and Steven. Ken was born in Winnipeg on February 24, 1915. He spent his youth in Winnipeg and as a young man moved to Meadows and then Marquette, MB where he substitute taught, owned and ran Dowler's General Store, was the Post Master and the mailman, delivered heating oil, and farmed the land. He wore many hats and did an exemplary job in all his undertakings. Marquette was a big part of his life and he loved the farming community. Ken enjoyed rigorous good health all his years and was unfortunately hindered in his last few years with Alzheimer's. Those standing for Ken as pallbearers are Steven Land, Archie McRae, John McRae, Barry Tomyk, Doug Pickell, and Gary Walsh. A memorial service for Ken will take place on Wednesday, April 19 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with Reverend Pat Wotton Officiating.
