Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE VIOLET ARNOULD After a lengthy illness, Florence Arnould passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 9, 2006 at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband Oliver of 47 years in 1980, her youngest daughter, Evelyn Shatford in 2004, her son-in-law Jack Medland in 1989 and son-in-law Duane La Haie in 1999. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Betty La Haie of Winnipeg, MB, Margaret Medland of Kenora, ON, Marlene Bunting (John) of Los Angeles, CA, and son-in-law Wayne Shatford of Camrose, AB, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Florence was born in Winnipeg in 1913, spent her early years in Ireland and Scotland and returned to Winnipeg in 1920, where she attended St. Mary's Academy. Still as a child, she moved to a small village near Rainy River, ON to live with her aunt and uncle until her marriage to Oliver Arnould in 1933. Florence was a homemaker and a very loving and caring mother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and was an excellent seamstress. She loved to entertain, play cards and Scrabble, fish and was an avid reader. In earlier years, she and Oliver enjoyed dancing and regularly attended local and county dances. She was a member of the Catholic Women's League for over 25 years. After 70 years in Rainy River, she moved back to Winnipeg (Transcona) and resided in a Senior Apartment until she became ill and took up residency in Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, where she remained until her passing. A very special Thank-You to the staff of Middlechurch Home who gave her such wonderful and loving care during her more than 10 year stay at the Home. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, April 18 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, 3597 Main St. in Middlechurch with Memorial Mass following at 2:00 p.m. with Msgr. Louis McCloskey officiating. Interment will follow in Rainy River, ON at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society in Florence's memory.
