JOHN (JAN) CHRZANOWSKI Peacefully on April 11, 2006, John passed away with his family by his side at Health Sciences Centre at the age of 85. John is survived by his brother Jozef and family; sister Maria Machniak and family in Przelewice, Poland; cousins, Lucy Houghton and family, Ken (Darlene) Chrzanowski and family, John (Marge) Mirus and family and numerous other family members. He was predeceased by his parents, Helena and Antoni. John was born on February 13, 1921 in Poland and came to Canada in July 1948. He began work for CNR in April 1953, retiring in February 1986. John was a strong supporter of Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church. He was a quiet, gentle man who kept to himself but was always present at major family gatherings. Any discussions regarding politics, money or taxes always brought out the best in John. The family would like to thank the Manager (John), staff and residents of St. Josaphat Selo-Villa and the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 10:30 a.m. with an Oblate Father as celebrant. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Ken Chrzanowski, Nelson Travassos, Jeff Houghton, Mike Wilson, John Mirus and Tom Mirus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of your choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
