WILLIAM ROBERT BERRY 1923 - 2006 Peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2006, Bill Berry, aged 82 years, passed away. Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years Doreen; children, Marie (Bill), Dave, Elva, Nora Ann (Don), Arthur (Karen), Donna May (Scott), and Alice (Danny); grandchildren, Adam, Jaime, Rachel, Brent, Jennifer, Travis, Jessica, Steven, Michael and Evan; one great-grandchild Cameron; two brothers, John (Jack) and Donald; and two sisters, Dulcie and Barbara. He was predeceased by his parents Tom and Margaret (Peggy) and one brother James (Jim). Bill was born in Manitou and was a life-long resident of the District of Middleton. From 1941 to 1945, he served in the RCAF and was stationed overseas. Upon his return, he married Doreen Davidson of New Haven and settled on the family farm which he farmed until his death. Bill's love of his life was his family and farming and he had a strong sense of community. A coffee shop regular and an unofficial mail man, he enjoyed a good story and was generous of heart and soul. A memorial service is to be held Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews United Church in Manitou, MB. A private interment was held by the family on the farm. Donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Red Cross Society or the Manitou Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion #21. The Last Post Come home! Come home! The last post is sounding for you to hear. All good soldiers know very well there is nothing to fear while they do what is right, and forget all the worries they have met in their duties through the year. A soldier cannot always be great, but he can be a gentleman and he can be a right good pal to his comrades in his squad. So all you soldiers listen to this - Deal fair by all and you'll never be amiss. Be Brave! Be Just! Be Honest and True Men!
