DONALD BRIAN HOPMAN After a lengthy illness with cancer, peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg, MB Donald Hopman suddenly passed away at the age of 60. Donald will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 37 years, Barbara. His memory will be cherished by his son Bryan (Coralie); his daughter Deanna (Terrence) Popadynetz and their three children, Seth, Marijka and Cayden. He also leaves behind his loving mother Mabel, two brothers, George (Carol), John (Judy); two sisters, Dorothy (Harvey) Fishbook, Carol (Neil) Watts and his mother-in-law Maria Streuber; brother-in-law Al (Nancy) Streuber; and numerous nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his father, Dirk; sister Trudy Fisher, and father-in-law Gerhard Streuber. Born July 19, 1945 in Winnipeg, Donald went to Red River Community College where he obtained his journeyman electrical license and later went on to achieve his contractors license. He completed his apprenticeship at Bereskin Electric, worked for Delta Electric and most recently completed 25 years of service with the CN Railway. Donald loved to spend time relaxing in the sun whether on his deck in the backyard or in his boat on the lake. Donald (Papa) loved to spend time playing with the grandchildren and teaching them all the different things that he loved to do like camping and fishing. The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. Also a thank you to Dr. M. Krahn, Dr. P. Daeninck and nurses of Cancer Care Manitoba, St. Boniface Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. C. Yaffe, Tracy and all the nurses a 7A West. For friends wishing to pay their respects, viewing will be on Thursday, April 20 from 7:00 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will take place Friday at 1:00 p.m., April 21 also at the chapel, with interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Rest in peace Donald, Dad, Papa, as you have left behind your pain and found eternal peace. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
