WILLIAM CEDRIC (BILL) MOFFATT June 1, 1915 - April 14, 2006 It is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather on April 14, 2006 at St. Boniface Hospital at 90 years of age. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Lorraine Louella (Falk), his parents W.J. and Mary Moffatt, grandson W.J. Bryon Phillips, two brothers and three sisters. Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Myrna Phillips, Karen Moffatt both of Winnipeg, Willene Moffatt (Lachie Macfadden) of Dryden and Terry Moffatt of Oakbank: 11 grandchildren, Patrick Phillips (Edna), Alanna Phillips, Kathie Wagner (Manfred), Pamela Wiebe (Dean Chapple), Shannon Wiebe (Cal), Shaughn Hotham-Cox (Christa), Tannys Moffatt (Shaun), Lauchie Macfadden (Sandy) Justin, Jeffrey and Nicholas Moffatt: and eight great- grandchildren, Madison and Jessica Phillips, Evangeline Wagner, Brendan and Miranda Chapple, Cailly Wiebe, Ewan and Hadyn Macfadden. Bill is also survived by two sisters, Jean Van Wyck of Roland and Christina Anderson of Unionville, ON. Dad was born in Swan Lake, MB into a proud pioneer farming family and moved as a child to Roland where he farmed till the family came to Winnipeg in 1970. He was an innovative farmer, among the first in the area to grow sugar beets and sunflowers. He belonged to the last generation of farmers who worked the land with 6 8 horse teams and threshing gangs, yet he always tried new techniques. He could fix anything with binder twine and chicken wire! He delighted in showing his Welsh ponies at fairs across southern Manitoba. His Wolseley residence was the talk of the street with his unique gardens. We will miss and cherish the way he could weave stories of long ago, remembering the names and details others had long forgotten; many about driving the country minister and doctor in all weather throughout the Roland Municipality. His love and support always sustained us as we faced life's challenges. Avid travellers, mother and dad criss-crossed North America, the U.K. and Palestine (in their 80's); now they can travel together in heaven. Their lives together were like a beautiful dance where they made up their own steps every day. Extra special thanks to the Doctors and staff at the St Boniface Hospital on 6E, 5E, and 4E. The tender care and compassion shown to father was second to none. In lieu of flowers donations in Bill's memory may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation or Roland United Church.
