MARGARET RENTZ Through her faith in Jesus, Margaret entered heaven April 13, 2006 from Westside Care Centre in Westbank, B.C. at the age of 98 years. She was born October 16, 1907 in Hamburg, Germany where she was baptized in the name of the Triune God. At the age of 5 she emigrated with her parents, John and Elisabeth Dassau to Edmonton, AB. She spent her childhood and teen years on a farm in southeastern Saskatchewan where she was also confirmed in the Christian faith at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Oxbow, SK In 1926 Margaret graduated from Dominion Business College and over the years did secretarial work for various business, professional and government agencies. While attending Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Winnipeg she met Emanual Rentz whom she married on June 27, 1934. Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband Emanual (Mickey) Rentz on April 28, 1987 and by her only sister Edith Steffenson in July 2001. She is survived by her son Rev. Garwood (Marlene) Rentz and their children, Wanda (Glen) Peters, Greg (Lori) Rentz, Teryl (Mark) Pratley, Jill (Mark) Kushniryk; also son David (Charlotte) Rentz and their children David Jr. (Fatima) Rentz, Paul (Kelly) Rentz and 11 great grandchildren as well as numerous friends in Winnipeg, Kelowna and Westbank. Margaret moved from Winnipeg in 1990 to Kelowna where she resided at Wedgewood, Hawthorn Park and finally Westside Care Centre. She was an avid gardener, winning awards for beautified homesite and prize roses. For many years Margaret was a volunteer in nursing homes in Winnipeg and Kelowna. She served at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Winnipeg and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Westbank, BC Funeral service will be held at First Lutheran Church, 4091 Lakeshore Road, Kelowna on Saturday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Murv Kentel officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Canadian Lutheran World Relief.
