ABSOLOM (TURNER) COOK April 10, 1923 - April 15, 2006 Peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 11:55 p.m. Absolom Cook, age 83 years, of Grand Rapids, passed away at home, after a valiant struggle with cancer. He leaves to mourn his passing his sons, Walter (Josephine), Ken (Ruth), Eric (Ariel), Herman (Joyce), Murray (Cheryl), Clarence (Cindy), Abner (Rhonda) and foster son, Johnny Moore; daughters, Katie Guimot, Irene Packo (Bill), Mildred George (Sam), Diane Cook (Lawrence), Muriel Martin (Anthony), Eva Ettawacappo (Louie), Sharon Beardy (Stanley) and Valerie Pranteau (Jeff); 70 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren. Absolom is also survived by his brothers, Bill (Edna), George (Ethel) and Raymond Cook; sisters, Rosalie Wilkens, Rubina (Albert) Campbell, Anne (Leonard) Flett, Jessie (Alfred) Anderson and Florence (Jack) George, sisters-in-law, Vivian Easter, Nellie (Ben) Cook, Agnes Thomas, Hilda Shaw and brother-in-law Ken Smith. Our dad was predeceased by our mother, his wife of 51 years, Eva Lena; son Gordon Neil; grandchildren, Kimberly Guimot, Barry Wayne, Rhonda, Pamela Blair, Bradley, Shaylene, Chantal, Raiden, Shalana and Harley, mother Katie Turner, father Neil Cook, stepmother Charlotte and brother Jonas Cook; special uncle Walter Cook, brothers-in-law, Bill, George, Gideon and Gordon Beardy, Riley Easter, Errol Wilkens and Jerry Shaw, sisters-in-law, Gertie Smith, Victoria Cook and Mary Beardy, son-in-law Harold Packo. Wake services will be held on Tuesday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Jeff and Valerie Pranteau's, Wednesday, April 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the Chief Peter Beardy Memorial Centre. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the St. James Anglican Church, Grand Rapids with Rev. Douglas Highway officiating. viewing and hall service will commence at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the St. John's Anglican Cemetery (reserve). Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Anders Cook, Darren Guimot, Harold Packo Jr., Dylan Cook, Mathew Beardy, Grant Cook, Travis Cook and Jonathan Cook.
