KATHERINE TUNNY Peacefully on Sunday, April 16, 2006 at Oakview Place, Katherine Tunny (Galay) passed away at the age of 86 years. Kay was predeceased by her husband, Tom in 1969; sisters Anne, Nellie, Jessie and Helen; brothers, Matt, John and Nick. Kay is remembered and will be sadly missed by her sons, Roy (Sheila) and Richard (Lynda); her grandsons Liam (Sherrie-Lou) and Andrew; her great-grandchildren, Justin, Brittany and Nicholas; her sisters, Marie, Eileen and Stephanie and many nieces and nephews. Kay was born in Weiden, MB on February 10, 1920, the sixth of 11 children. She grew up and went to school in the Lawrence Municipality. She went to work in Dauphin where she met Tom Tunny. They were married April 19, 1942. In 1946, they bought a house on Vimy Road in Kirkfield Park, where Kay lived for 57 years. Kay was a very caring, generous woman, who loved to garden and especially to cook. Many people enjoyed the produce from her garden and the goodies from her stove. You could never leave her home without a full stomach and some food in your hands or pocket as well. After she was widowed, she began working for Home Care. She was greatly appreciated by the many clients she attended to. She always went above and beyond what was expected of her. Her family was very important to her. She loved to see and, of course, cook for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family is very thankful to the staff of Deer Lodge and Oakview Place for the kind and loving care given to mom during her final days there. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 21 at 12:30 p.m. with visitation one-half hour prior to the service at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Interment and reception to follow. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca. Remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice in Kay's memory.
