ARMELLA GERTRUDE MENGE (nee LUKE) On Good Friday, April 14, 2006, after a long illness, Armella Gertrude Clementine Menge (nee Luke) died peacefully with family at her side. Born August 16, 1928 at Fulda, SK, Armella was raised on a farm in the Humboldt region together with 14 sisters and brothers, and later moved with the rest of the Luke family to Ste. Rose du Lac, MB. Ste. Rose was always home to Armella, even after moving to Winnipeg as a young woman, and the farm became a welcome destination every summer for her and her growing family. Armella worked and married in Winnipeg, where she raised five children who survive her: Dolores Rintoul (Harry - deceased); Mark; Robert (Pauline); Peter (Lisa); and Glenn (Sarrah). She is survived also by five grandchildren, who knew her as Oma : Siobhan Menge, Tristan Henry, Linnaea Rintoul, and Ryan and Nicholas Menge. She leaves to mourn her many remaining siblings, their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States. Armella was an animal lover and lived with many cats over the years. She battled multiple sclerosis for nearly forty years, and remained determined to walk and live independently until the last year of her life. She attended St. John Brebeuf Roman Catholic Church for many years and spent some of her time volunteering at church-related activities, through which she made a number of friends. We wish to thank all the caring and helpful staff at the Charleswood Care Centre, who helped Armella and her family so much during the last difficult weeks. We also extend our thanks to Dr. George Borrett and the nursing staff at the Grace General Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 21 at St. John Brebeuf Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place at Lanark. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations to the MS Society of Canada, 4th Floor, 141 Bannatyne Avenue, R3B 0N8, may be made in Armella's name. REST IN PEACE neil bardal inc. 949-2200
