KATE RIDD It is with sadness, the family announces the passing of Kate Ridd on Monday, April 17, 2006 at the Grace Hospital. Kate was born January 14, 1925 at Gladstone, MB. She attended Palestine School and Gladstone High School and went on to Business College Winnipeg to become a bookkeeper. She worked at several businesses over her career. Kate married Robert Ridd in 1952 and had a son Bobby in 1964. They made their home in St. James for many years. Kate was a past member of Knox United and Sturgeon Creek United Church. She did many hours of volunteer work between hospital shut-ins and nursing homes. She belonged to I.O.D.E, I.O.F. and Gladstone Club. She enjoyed cribbage and jigsaw puzzles. She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Dorothy Jarvis; her husband Robert; son Bobby; brothers, Esmond and Jim; sisters-in-law, Jackie and Alice and nephew Lional. Kate leaves to mourn her brothers, Alfred, Edgar (Jean), Jack (Ella), Allen (Bea) and sisters-in-law, Leona and Marjorie; a very special friend Pat and Bill Mason. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and many friends. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with a reception to follow. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca The family would like to thank Dr. Marin and nurses on 5N at Grace Hospital and also friends in Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts. Flowers are gratefully accepted however, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 in Kay's memory.
