DIANNE MARILYN LOEWEN (nee BUSS) July 17, 1945 April 18, 2006 With grace and courage, and holding her husband's hand, our Lady Di' ended this part of her journey peacefully in the Thompson General Hospital. In her time here, she touched the lives of innumerable people. Those who knew her have been forever blessed with her loving kindness through every stitch, hug, dinner, tear, song, dance and smile. She reminded us how to truly live and celebrate everything, whether it was schnicks and schnacks' at the Lake or the day the plastic came off the windows. As she would say, Yay, yay, and yay. Dianne was born in Steinbach and lived in the area until moving with her husband Vic to Thompson in 1968. There she quickly shared her love of music and became a member of the Aurora Singers sisterhood. Her days were spent working at Needle's Eye for a few years, then the Provincial Government for 19 years, 6 months, 1 day , as her little plaque states that always made her laugh. Another of her great passions was quilting. Her award winning quilts are hanging on the walls and wrapped around family and friends all over the country. If her hands weren't busy stitching, they were most likely catching more fish at the lake than anyone else in the boat. The lake was her happy place where she was able to spend time creating beautiful pieces of fabric art. Left to carry on her legacy are her husband of 38 years, Victor; her daughters, Vanessa (Stephen) Welch and Andrea (Vineet) Nair, and granddaughter Sarah Dianne Welch. Also, her mother Theresa Harder; sister Ruth Brownridge (Bob, Kurt and Doug); brother Ken Buss (Carol, Charlie and Thomas); sister Bernice Borkowsky (Lorenz, Kim, Boyd and families); mother-in-law Tina Spingler; sister-in-law Merry Pearce (Bruce, Callie and Zoe) and sister-in-law Verna Loewen (son James). Dianne was predeceased by her father Albert K. Buss, step-father John Harder and brother-in-law Les Loewen. Special thanks to all her close friends, the ladies from the Advent Lutheran Church, the staff at both Thompson General Hospital and D6 of the Health Sciences Centre, and Doctors Sanchez, Bow and Rubinger for their care and support. Particular thanks to Margaret at Thompson General Hospital who was a professional, advocate, and friend. Flowers are gratefully declined, however gifts of money to the chemo department at Thompson General Hospital (through BRHA), or gifts of self to the Canadian Blood Services bone marrow or blood donor programs are appreciated. Undoubtedly, we will all continue to give by passing on the love she has planted in our hearts. Celebrations of her life are at Advent Lutheran Church in Thompson, MB at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21 and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Steinbach, MB at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 24. The last words are hers, Bye, bye for now.
