JENNIE MARGARET MCCUMBER (HICKES)

JENNIE MARGARET MCCUMBER (nee HICKES) Peacefully on April 24, 2006 at the Red River Place Personal Care Home, Selkirk with family by her side. Jennie was born on Nov. 21, 1917 to Fredrick and Josephine Hickes. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Sophie Hickes, Mamie Tulloch, Ada Scramstad, Agnes Stevens (Ross); brothers, Sydney, Willie and Albert Hickes; sons, Terry, Ricky and Vernon; and beloved husband of 63 years, Mickey, in 2001. Jennie is survived by daughter Marsha (Rita); sister-in-law Joan McCumber; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jennie worked for Booth Fisheries and Freshwater Fish until her retirement. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, cooking, bingo and travelling. She was a lifetime member of the Army and Navy Ladies Auxillary. Marsha would like to thank everyone who visited Mom especially Audrey and Tucker for their weekly visits. A special thanks to all the staff at Red River Place for all their caring and compassion in making it her home. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation, #6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Rest in Peace My Lady Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
