JOSEPH MELNYK It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Joseph on Monday, April 24, 2006 at the Grace Hospital with his wife by his side. He is survived by his wife Betty of 63 years; his son Wayne (Carol) and their children, Tenise and Chris; his daughters, Betty Ann (John) and their children, Jonathan, Melissa, and Theresa; Carol Lynn (Ron) and their children, Daryl and Alanna; brother Anthony Melnyk; sister in-law Idabelle; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was born and raised in Broadview, SK. Later he moved to Winnipeg where he met and married Betty. Dad enlisted in the Army in 1940 serving in Niagra Falls until 1945. He worked in the fur industry, CP Rail, and finally retiring with the City of Winnipeg. Dad enjoyed time at the lake with his family, track, casino's, travelling and spending winters in Florida, Palm Springs, and Victoria. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed John XXIII Church, 3390 Portage Avenue with reception following in the parish hall. A private family interment will be held. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca Remembrances may be made to the Salvation Army Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, R3J 3M7 in Joseph's memory.
