WILLIAM GUSTAV WIESNER Peacefully on April 25, 2006, William passed away at the age of 93 at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre. William leaves to mourn his two sons, William Jr. (Elaine) and Wayne (Carol); two grandsons, Chris (Brigitte) and Glenn (Lori); and three great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Christina and Billy; sisters, Margaret and Viola and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Ivy in 1984; sisters, Helen and Lena; parents, Hugo and Cecilia. William was born and raised in the north end of Winnipeg and served in the Second World War, stationed in Shilo and Halifax as a machinist for the Mechanical Engineers Corps. He was employed by the T. Eaton Co. primarily as their outboard motor mechanic and retired in 1975, which allowed him to continue his love of the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and especially devoting time to the family. Dad was known in the neighbourhood as Grandpa Wiesner where he would tell of his many adventures and play his harmonica. His grandsons and great-grandchildren will always remember his famous nail soup and stories. Special thanks to the Golden Door staff for their wonderful care and to neighbours, especially Matt, Susan and family for keeping an eye on Dad. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Inkster. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in William's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Diabetes Association or the Winnipeg Humane Society. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
