CHRISTOPHER BERT COURCHENE (Asiginaag Black Bird) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the Pine Falls Hospital at the age of 48 years. He is survived by his loving wife Jean; children Zach and Janine; his mother Kay Courchene, sisters, Susan Thomas (Dan), Kathy Courchene; brothers, Wayne, Myles (Charlene) and Jeff (Tina) as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends and a special aunt Juliana. Chris was predeceased by his father Bert; nephews, Jason Courchene, Donovan Courchene, Christopher Robert Courchene, Evan Courchene; mother-in-law Mildred Courchene; grandparents, Ethel and William Sinclair and Paul and Sarah Courchene. Chris lived in Sagkeeng most of his life. He married in 1991, He was a loving and devoted father and husband for his children and wife. Chris graduated from the Powerview Collegiate in 1975. He was an experienced and accomplished mechanic in heavy machinery and automobiles. His mastery in his trade was displayed by his uncanny ability to successfully diagnose and repair engine problems. Chris was a generous man who was more than willing to help family and friends in their time of need. He will be sorely missed. Wake services will be held at the family home beginning Wednesday evening on the South Shore, Ft. Alexander, MB. Funeral Liturgy will be Celebrated on Saturday, April 29 at 11:00 a.m. from the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church, Ft. Alexander, with Fr. Jerry Sembrano Presiding. Interment in the Parish Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Zach Courchene, Brennen Courchene, Jenny Courchene and Heather Courchene. Pallbearers will be A.J. Courchene, Matthew Courchene, Leonard Courchene, Justin Courchene and Dan Thomas and Alvin Morrisseau. The family would like to thank Dr. Lambrecht and the Staff of the Pine Falls Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Chris during his stay, to Dr. Leylek and Debra Scott of the Cancer Care Manitoba for the wonderful care shown to him, it will not be forgotten. If friends so desire memorial donations in his memory may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB. RUSSELL'S of Beausejour, Manitoba are in care of arrangements.
