ROBERT DUNCAN MCKAY
Date of Passing: Apr 27, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT DUNCAN MCKAY Peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2006 Robert McKay passed away at, the age of 93 years. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 2005; two daughters, Audrey and Marjorie; and son Robert; he leaves to mourn two sons, James (Pauline) of Portage la Prairie, Neil (Linda) of Winnipeg; and son-in-law Alex Tretiak (Stephanie) of Gimli, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Bob started his carrier as a carpenter, working with his father and later in the gold mines of Ontario. He proceeded to building aircraft with Bristol in Winnipeg and ended as a diesel mechanic with Kane Equipment. He always wanted to be a pharmacist, but that was not to be. Bob was not a great sports fan but took up bowling at the urging of his wife, and ended up bowling for as long as he could pick up a ball. He bowled many years with The Foresters league, and carried on in Gimli, well into age 92. Woodworking and watch repair were some of his other pastimes, and he always found something to keep him busy. He enjoyed travelling, especially visiting family on the west coast, where he was treated to ocean fishing on many occasions. Bob was always up for the challenges life through at him, like the pink bunny, going on and on. The energy drained rapidly after Dorie passed away, helped along with a dose of the big C. He figured he would get out of this one somehow, and maybe he did, just not like he expected. Bowl another strike, Bob, we can hear the rumble in tonight's sky, as you warm up! Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 2 at 1:00, at Neil Bardal Inc. 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. If friends so desire they can make donations to a charity of their choice. neil bardal inc. 949-2200
