Date of Passing: Mar 29, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALDINE (JERI) M. STEWART (nee NYE, FraSer) With great sadness we announce that on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at the Lions Prairie Manor, in Portage la Prairie, MB, Jeri succumbed to her disease and passed on peacefully at 70 years of age. Jeri was born on August 23, 1935, grew up and was educated in Winnipeg, MB. She married and raised three children, one boy and two girls. She was an employee of Maple Leaf Mills, and then Bunge Corp. in the Grain Exchange Building for numerous years. After the passing of her first husband Jim Fraser, Jeri then met her second husband Ron and inherited three more children, two girls and one boy, two of whom were indirectly responsible for bringing them together. Jeri loved being with her husband, family and friends. She loved golf, bowling, darts, bingo, board games, cards, etc... Jeri was an avid gardener as well, but most of all, a master at making crafts which she enjoyed immensely, and she would then enter her goods at various craft sales in and around the area. Jeri and her husband loved to travel, and together, visited distant family every year, and also explored many interesting and exciting places all over the world. She was a very outgoing person, and met many people throughout their travels, some of whom are still kept in touch with after many years. Jeri's favourite movie, (and the song from it) was Ghost , and a word in the movie ditto meant a great deal to her. She was predeceased by her first husband James Fraser; mother and father, Emily and John Nye; stepson Robert (Jim) Stewart; plus grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeri will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ron; son James (Shannon) Fraser and children, Jerraleen, Cassidy and Carita Halayko of Winnipeg; daughter Teresa (Norbert) Janitz and children, Jayce and Jennifer of Grimsby, ON; daughter Gail Fraser of Winnipeg; stepdaughter Cheryll Gebhardt and children, Derek and Kristin of Winnipeg; stepdaughter Catherine (Gary) Moore of Chilliwack, BC; mother-in-law Florence Stewart; sister-in-law Dianne (Roger) Phillips; brother-in-law Beverly (Dierdre) Stewart, all of Thunder Bay, ON; sister-in-law Loralee Aldercotte of Morin Heights, QC; aunts, Marie Chesley of Richmond, VA, Edith Chesley and Dorothy Wood, both of Winnipeg; plus many cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Our deepest appreciation and thanks to all the dedicated and caring staff at the Lions Prairie Manor in Portage la Prairie, MB. They were positively wonderful to both of us with all their love, help, and kindness. The service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. in Winnipeg on Saturday, May 6 at 1:00 p.m. with interment following at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Association, Lions Prairie Manor in Portage, or your own preference, in Jeri's honour would be greatly appreciated. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
