DAVID MAYO 1920 - 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Albert David Mayo, on Wednesday April 26, 2006 at the age of 85 at the St. Boniface hospital with his loving wife by his side. Dave was predeceased by his parents; and his brothers, Charley and Cyril. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years Ruth; his sons, Gary, Earl (Donna), Darrell (Louise); grandson Ryan; his brother Herby and many nieces and nephews. David was born and raised in Shell Lake, SK. As a proud veteran of the Second World War, he had a great appreciation for life. After the war, David travelled the country until he began work at the DVA in Saskatoon where he met his wife. David and Ruth moved to Winnipeg with his family in the early 1950s. He then worked as a service technician for the Dental College, before he began his Job at General Electric as an x-ray technician until retirement. One of his great joys in life was spending as much time as possible out at the family cottage in Canyon Lake, ON, where he was always the first to say hello and offer a hand unpacking when you arrived. A train could not go by the cottage without seeing Dave outside waving. If you were ever looking for David or Ruth at 4 p.m., they could always be found enjoying a glass of wine and good conversation at the Windsor Park Hotel, and you could always count on Dave saying I probably told you this before and then get into his short list of stories of the past that everyone has heard many times before. The family would like to thank the emergency room staff of St. Boniface Hospital, for their care and support. Memorial service will be held on Monday, May 1 at 12 noon at Green Acres Funeral Chapel. Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, 222-3241. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Dave's memory to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation.
