VICTOR (BABE) TAYLOR
Born: Mar 14, 1917
Date of Passing: Apr 27, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTOR (BABE) TAYLOR March 14, 1917 - April 27, 2006 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Victor on Thursday, April 27 at the Selkirk and District General Hospital with his loving and devoted daughter at his side. He was predeceased by his wife Bernice; parents, Harriot and Thomas Taylor and siblings, Eva, Edward, Orton and Eunice. He is survived by one sister Isabelle Johnson; daughter Marilyn (Eric); son Brian (Linda); grandchildren, Jeff, Trevor (Rhonda), Tracy, Kim, Cheryl and Jamie and great-grandchildren, Brooke, Nicholas, Austin and Robert and many nieces and nephews. Victor grew up in Lockport and worked at Fairfields Woolen Mills in his early years. He then enlisted in the airforce and served overseas during the Second World War. It still brought a tear to his eye when he spoke to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren about the things he had witnessed during the war and hoped no one would have to go through that again. After returning from overseas, he ran his own successful taxi business before going to work at the Manitoba Rolling Mills and retired in 1982 with 32 years of service. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening and looking after his home and yard. He also looked forward to travelling to Gilby to visit his sisters and entertain them with his stories and quick wit. He also enjoyed his visits with old and new friends at the Royal Canadian Legion and the Army and Navy. The family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to the staff of the Betel Home and the Selkirk and District General Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care shown to Victor over the last year and a half. A celebration of Victor's life will be held on Monday, May 1 at Gilbart's Funeral Home, Selkirk, MB at 11:00 a.m. with viewing at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Godfrey-Mawejje officiating. Interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations may be made in Victor's memory to the Palliative Care, Selkirk and District General Hospital, P.O. Box 5000, 100 Easton Dr., Selkirk, MB R1A 2M2 or to a charity of their choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
