ARTHUR ROHNE April 14, 1916 - April 29, 2006 Peacefully on Saturday, April 29, 2006 Arthur Rohne passed away at Riverview Health Centre after a brief battle with cancer. Arthur was predeceased by his loving wife Blanche (LaForme) and brothers, Frank and Harry Rohne. Dad will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Dennis (Morgan), California, Jeffrey (Dorothy), Winnipeg, Timothy, Vancouver and Donald, Winnipeg; his grandchildren, Karl (Cori), Peter (Eden), Neal (Lauren), Monica and great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Sadie; by his brothers, Leif (Lorette) and Spencer; brother-in-law and dear friend Jerry LaForme, (Shirley); sisters-in-law, Ollie and Isabel LaForme and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was born and raised in Inwood, MB and during his school years Dad's love of music had him playing the guitar and singing with his brothers at school dances around the Interlake. Later Dad would hold numerous jobs during the difficult war years and eventually worked in an aircraft factory in Thunder Bay. Upon returning to Inwood he would meet and marry Blanche LaForme and they would move to Winnipeg. As a young boy Dad had an interest in mechanical things and would become the Supervisor of Construction Equipment Maintenance for Harris Construction (Pile Foundations Ltd.). He retired in 1981. The Rohne family were regular summer residents at Falcon Beach and Dad's love for fishing, blueberry picking and fresh air continued until just a few years ago. Dad was able to enjoy a wonderful 90th birthday party with family and friends gathering from far and wide. We will miss his kind spirit and gentle nature. The family extends special thanks to the home care staff who cared for Dad over the past few years and to the staff of Riverview Health Centre for their kind and compassionate care during his short stay. If friends and family wish, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in Dad's memory. Services will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 2:00 p.m. in the Inwood Gethsemane Lutheran Church. Pastor Claire Speary will officiate. Interment will follow in the Inwood Cemetery. MacKenzie Funeral Home Teulon in care of arrangements.
