Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN STEPHANIE MAROY December 10, 1920 - May 1, 2006 Gently and with grace Helen passed away on May 1, 2006 at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Helen was predeceased by her loving parents, Stephen and Rose (Cooper), as well as all her aunts and uncles. Left to remember her are her cousins and many friends. Helen had been the family matriarch for many years and the keeper of family stories and photos. Helen had a strong sense of independence tempered by her interest in family history, past, present and future. She loved to tell stories and be told stories about her extended family. She had a strong belief that education provided limitless opportunities, which accounted for her 34 wonderful years of teaching preschool children in the Winnipeg School Division. Helen loved being a teacher and her students loved her. Her thirst for learning continued throughout her life. She was a graduate of the University of Manitoba, Bachelor of Science Home Economics (1945), Certificate in Education and a senior student at the University of Winnipeg for many years. Helen loved to travel but always loved to come home to her house and her fabulous garden. She was a voracious reader of English Literature and avid collector of beautiful things. She lived a contented life surrounded by her books and art collection. The family would like to thank the wonderful people of Manitoba Homecare, particularly nurse Sharon Levine, as well as the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit, especially Cinda, Catherine and Edith, for their respectful care. Prayers to honour her passing will take place Tuesday, May 2 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A graveside service at Holy Ghost Cemetery, North Main Street, will take place Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Cropo Funeral Chapel 586-8044
