ANN SENYK (nee HOMENIUK) Ann (Homeniuk) Senyk passed away peacefully after a brief and intense bout with cancer on April 30, 2006. She was predeceased by husband Stephen Senyk, February 2004, parents Anastasia and George Homeniuk, as well as sisters Mary and Sophie, brothers Billie and John. She will be sadly missed by her children Kenneth, Gloria (Terry), George, Valerie (Robert), Warren (Laurie), and Deborah; grandchildren, Randy, Monica, Cindy, Kimberly, Katrina, Alix, Stephen, Darin, Mishkin, Alexei, and Callam; ten great-grandchildren; as well as by her surviving sister Olga. Born in Winnipeg on June 12, 1920, she was an accomplished Ukrainian dancer and mandolin player in her youth, and participated in a Ukrainian film made in Winnipeg. She was a member of the St. Ivan Suchavsky Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. She met musician Stephen Senyk in 1944, married and raised their six children with sacrifice through good times and bad, and had many adventures together. Ann was a homemaker who took her children to church and arranged dance and music lessons for them. When the children were older, she enjoyed working part-time at the International Inn and at the Assiniboia Downs, as well as travelling, and being a member of the Senior Achievers Club. She nursed her husband for many years after he was disabled by a stroke. Ann enjoyed her independence right up to the last half-year of her life, driving herself about the city to visit family, and play bingo with her friends. When diagnosed with cancer six months ago, she endured her illness without complaint. Words cannot describe adequately the life of this woman and mother who loved life and friendship, and who was the heart and soul of her family. The funeral service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, Thursday, May 4 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her six children: Ken, Gloria, George, Valerie, Warren and Deborah. Honorary pallbearers: grandson Randy, son-in-law Terry, and nephew Douglas. All are invited to join with us in commemorating the passing of this dear soul. Flowers are gratefully declined. Since Ann was an animal lover, donations may be made in her name to the Winnipeg Humane Society. XPUCTOC BOCKPEC Christ is Risen CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
