JERRY BADIOU September 14, 1936 - April 30, 2006 A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many, passed away on April 30, 2006. Jerry Badiou was born on September 14, 1936 near Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB. Inspired by his parents, Jerry shaped a strong work ethic and enjoyed farming for most of his life. He married Odile Bazin on October 26, 1957 and together they raised four children, Denis, Lynn, Noella and Lorraine. In addition to his love of the land, Jerry was very community-spirited and served actively as a counselor on the RM of Lorne for nearly two decades, as well as many committees and community organizations. Among his fondest memories were his many years of travelling, most particularly his warm winters in Phoenix. Strong family bonds were the heart of his being. He showed a passion for life which served as an inspiration for all who knew him. Jerry's family will always carry fond memories in their hearts of his unconditional love. His friends will remember him for his signature laugh, his joie de vivre and his tenacious discussions at the coffee shop. He is predeceased by his parents, Antoine and Jeanne (Magne) Badiou; and his sisters, Antoinette Brouzes (and husband Roland), Denise Avanthay (and husband Raymond); as well as his parents-in-law, Joseph and Mercédès (Lafrenière) Bazin; and brother-in-law Raymond Delaquis. Jerry leaves many to carry on the torch and who will love and miss him every day. His loving wife Odile (Bazin) Badiou; son Denis (Léa) Badiou of Brandon, and daughters Lynn (Norbert) Comte of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Noella (Bert) Knockaert of Winnipeg and Lorraine (Allen) Grenier of St. Léon; and grandchildren, Julie / Janelle / Nicole / Eric Badiou, Joanne / Melisa / Stephan Comte, Patrick / Chantal / Danica Knockaert and Kristine / Colin / Kevin Grenier. He is also survived by his brothers Lou (Sue) Badiou and René (Lili) Badiou as well as his sister Cécile (Roméo) Delaquis and in-laws Denise and Roger Pittet, André and Odette Bazin, Raymond and Vivian Bazin, Renée Delaquis, Annette and Bob Deleurme and Aline and Russ Preston. Funeral mass will be celebrated at the Notre Dame Catholic Church in Notre Dame de Lourdes on Thursday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. Thoughts and memories cherished, in lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's memory can be made to the Centre de bien-être Lourdéon Wellness Centre, 51 Rodgers St., Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB R0G 1M0.
