Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAILEEN SHACK (nee CAPAR) Aileen Shack peacefully left this life on May 3, 2006 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Aileen will be lovingly remembered by her husband Nicholas, son Glen, daughter Bonnie (Brent) Amy, grandsons, Ryan (Elisa), Kevin (Jolene), great-grandson Noah and her nieces and nephews. Aileen was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Mary, sister Bernice, brothers Joe, Norm and Don. Aileen was born in Winnipeg on November 22, 1923. She was raised in the north end and attended Isaac Newton School. After school she worked at Burns and Robinson Little. Aileen was a sports pioneer. She played softball for many years with CUAC and St. Vital Tigerettes as a pitching ace. She was team MVP in 1947 and league MVP in 1949. There were many articles in the newspapers detailing her pitching prowess. Aileen and Nick married on May 5, 1951. Mom devoted herself to raising and caring for her family. Her grandchildren provided many hours of pleasure as she watched and videotaped their various sports. She played an important part in their lives with her genuine interest and encouragement. Mom was especially thrilled and excited to be a great-grandmother. Aileen enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing and family vacations. She was an avid volunteer for the Heart Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, school hotdog days and field trips. Mom was a very compassionate and caring person. She never hesitated to offer her time and help when needed. The family would like to thank friends and family for their love and support. Her request was to be cremated. A memorial service to celebrate Aileen's life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 6. In lieu of flowers, donations in Aileen's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
