BENJAMIN DYCK Mr. Benjamin Dyck, with family at his side, passed away peacefully in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Thursday, April 27, 2006, after suffering a stroke the previous Sunday. He is survived by his loving wife Rita; his father, John; daughter, Joy (Alan) Barkman of Steinbach, MB, sons, Ben (Laura) Dyck and William (Debbie) Dyck of Steinbach, MB, daughters, Brenda Dyck of Winnipeg, MB and Meghan Canty of Surrey, BC, step-daughter, Wanda (Tie) Hoekstra and step-son, Kim (Birgit) Babott of Vernon, BC; his grandchildren, Lindsay, Tessa (Isimeli) Masi, Scott, Tyler (Jessi), Joel, Kyle, Kayla and Kyndal, all of Steinbach, MB, Krystle, Devon and Jessie of Vernon, BC, Shayla (Ryan) Noel of Calgary, AB; his brothers, John (Lois) of Surrey, BC and Harvey (Sharon) of Steinbach, MB; sisters, Anne (Hubert) Beisel of Swift Current, SK and Elizabeth Foster of Winnipeg, MB and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth, and sisters, Luella Sinclair and Olga Friesen. Ben was born in Herbert, SK in 1934 and then moved with his family to Steinbach, MB where he grew up. He was a true entrepreneur and was always able to turn his latest idea or hobby into a business. He also maintained a constant passion for horses which he loved to train and ride. Ben was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and sponsor. He touched the lives of many and will be fondly remembered for his humour and ability to say it as it is. His fighting spirit was evident to the end but he is now in a better place with the Lord. Cremation preceded memorial services celebrating Ben's life which will be held in Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach, MB on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. and later at the Falkland Community Church, 2940 Chase Falkland Road, Falkland, BC on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Berg officiating. Lunch and refreshments will be served following each service. Cremation arrangements were made with BETHEL FUNERAL CHAPEL LTD., 5605 - 27th Street, Vernon, BC, V1T 8Z5 (1-250-542-1187).
