STANLEY JOHN WOZNIEWICH Passed away on April 15, 2006 after a lengthy illness, with his wife, Bea and his daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Lenny, by his side. Although he will be greatly missed, it was nice to see him at peace at long last. Stan was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Francis Wozniewich, in-laws Harold and Helen Brown and brother-in-law William Kurlowich. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories his loving wife Beatrice, his sister, Jennie Kurlowich, sons Randy (Lori) and Don, daughters Lorraine (Les), Karen, Suzanne, Michelle and Charlene (Lenny) and stepson, Jim Park, and 16 grandchildren. Stan was born on December 30, 1931 in Winnipeg. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the Armed Forces where he served until 1954. He was proud to serve his country overseas during the Korean War and it was an experience that was to affect the way Stan lived the rest of his life. After he left the service, he returned to Winnipeg. He married and of this union had four children. At this time, Stan held various jobs in Winnipeg. On July 10, 1965 he married Beatrice Brown and they had three daughters. Stan worked for Dominion Construction for many years. Tiring of the construction business, he went to work in the Winnipeg School Division as a custodian, a job he held until ill health forced him into retirement. Stan loved to hunt and the annual trips to Binscarth to see his hunting guide, Leo were some of his favorite holidays. Stan was a devoted member of the Royal Canadian Legion and he and Bea devoted many hours to fundraising and supporting Branch No. 30. He formed friendships there that lasted the rest of his life. Another of Stan's passions was playing cards. He was an accomplished cribbage player and he and Bea represented their Legion Branch many times in national tournaments. Stan was a quiet and unassuming man. He loved his family and cherished his friendships. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and leaves his loved ones with memories they can cherish for a lifetime. Funeral service will be held, Monday, May 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba, 302-171 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1M3.
