Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMILY MAY WILSON (nee HOPKINS) It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mum, with her daughters by her side, at the age of 97 years on May 3, 2006. Emily was predeceased by her husband Wallace (Wally) in 1974; her parents, Thomas and Minnie Hopkins; sisters, Margaret Stevenson, Eva Vesey; brother James (Jim) Hopkins; brother-in-law, Leslie Stevenson, Syd Vesey and Clark Hunter; sister-in-law Isla Hopkins; and nephew Larry Hopkins. Emily is survived by her sister Sarah-Jane (Jean) Hunter and brother Will Hopkins; daughters, Jane (Ken) and Mary; Ken's daughter Dielle and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Mum will be missed by her beloved pet Tippi. Emily was born in Ste. Elizabeth, MB in 1908 where she was raised on a farm. After her education she moved to Winnipeg where Emily trained as a Registered Nurse at Misericordia Hospital graduating in the class of 1934. On August 3, 1935 she married husband Wallace and together they raised their two daughters on Crystal Ave. in St. Vital. Later in life after her daughters were grown, Emily updated her nursing qualifications and afterwards practiced as a private nurse for a number of years. She will be remembered for her passion for the outdoors, gardening and especially animals. Emily was a great baker, renowned for her pies. She was a kind and gentle soul, which made her particularly suited to a career in nursing. We would like to thank the staff at Meadowood Manor, and her special friend Marlene McCallum, for their kindness towards Mum. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home with a reception to follow. Rev. Marc Whitehead officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Mum's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
