PAT SHUBALY August 23, 1924 May 2, 2006 After a brief illness at the Grace Hospital, it is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved husband, father and grandfather, Pat Shubaly. Left with loving memories are his wife of 53 years, Anne; daughter Donna and her husband Len Friesen; special grandson Nicholas; and lovely granddaughter Lauren, the loves of his life. As well as his extended family Lydia, Melissa and Nicole; his sisters, May and Helen (Ray); brother Billy; sister-in-law Betty; many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Mildred and Nicholas; brother Tom; brother-in-law Joe; and sister-in-law Mary. Pat was born in Port Arthur, now Thunder Bay. During the Second World War, he served overseas with the Fort Gary Horse in the Armoured Division. On his return to Canada, he began working in the construction industry. His work took him to Vancouver, Toronto, Richmond Hill and back to Thunder Bay. In 1980 Pat and Anne moved to Winnipeg where he worked as a renovator until his retirement. He belonged to various car clubs, HO Model Railroad Clubs and the Manitoba Antique Association where he volunteered where needed. Above everything his family was always at the forefront, never missing an opportunity to be there for skating, baseball, football and dance events for his daughter and grandchildren. His love of animals was always evident, in particular with Mitzi and Jasmine. Every spring he looked forward to the return of the Canada Geese flying over our home. On Monday, May 8 at 1:00 p.m., Pat's funeral service will be held in Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Ave. (Corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue). For those who wish, parking will be available in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church parking lot located on Ness Avenue. Our family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital and our friends Olive, Mary, Andy, Lou, Mil and Morris, to name a few for their help, care and compassion. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Pat's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3. Pat's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 4665
