ISOBELL (BETTS) MARY LONE (nee BARRON) On Thursday morning, May 4, 2006, with her family by her side, Betts shed this mortal coil to start anew. With a smile on her face and a song in her heart she will ever be remembered by her family - Mumma to her children, Barbara, Monica and Cynthia, Nana to her grandchildren and Nanabell to her great-grandchildren. Born to Juliet and Frank Barron the second of six siblings (Paula, Joyce, Frank, Roy and Ronald), Betts had a childhood filled with love and laughter. As a young woman Betts wanted to make a difference. She trained as a nurse at St Joseph's Hospital winning the General Proficiency Medal, did post graduate training in public health at the University of Toronto and worked with the Victorian Order of Nurses in Winnipeg. She married the love of her life, Frank John Lone in 1946 and moved to Killarney where Frank set up a general medical practice. Subsequently they lived in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay and Wildwood, FL. This September would have seen them celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Betts shared her zest for life with all she met. A celebrated hostess and creative cook she passed on her passion for entertaining to her children and grandchildren. An invitation to dine at the Lone's was not an opportunity to be missed. If you were lucky and the roses were in bloom you might also take home a beautiful blossom or two as a reminder of the evening. Her family would to thank all those at the Grace Hospital who made her last days so peaceful; her sons-in-law, Fergus and Brant for their care and support and ever faithful visitor Dorothy. At her request no service will be held. Her family will celebrate her life in a private ceremony at a later date.
