MARY WATTS Cradled in the love and support of family, Mary Watts cast aside her pain May 2, 2006. She will be forever remembered by sons, Raymond (Betty Ann), Keith (Deborah), Barry, and daughter-in law Diane. She is survived by grandchildren, Aynsley, Russell (Candice) and Dorian and great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Caitlin and Daren. Mary will be sadly missed by her brother Harry Collis (Dorothy); cousin Jane (Richard); nephews, Andrew (Kathy) and Mark and niece Leslie (John) in England. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Rebecca Collis; husband Arthur; sister-in-law Jessie (Gordon Forster) and daughter-in-law Erna. Born June 14, 1927 in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England, Mary was greatly influenced by her Grannie and Aunty Bessie who helped care for Mary and her brother following the death of their mother at an early age. She was a precocious youth and an adventurous teen who was actively involved in war-work . Mary met and married a member of the RCAF, Arthur Charles Watts, and came to Canada at the end of the Second World War to begin a new life in Transcona. She devoted her time and energy to Art and the boys and later to a growing family that gave her the daughters she had always hoped for. She was able to share in the adventures of grandchildren and delight in the visits of great-grandchildren, to whom she was affectionately known as Cookie Grannie . When she was able she enjoyed knitting and was an avid shopper with an eye for a bargain. Over the years Mary and Art enjoyed several visits with family and friends in England as well as travels to Italy, Switzerland, Hawaii and Florida. Mary faced many health challenges throughout her life and with Art played a role in establishing the pain clinic at St. Boniface Hospital. Debilitating arthritis forced Mary to leave her home and move to Donwood Manor Personal Care Home where she received quality care tempered with compassion, empathy and friendship. The family acknowledges with thanks and appreciation the care provided by Dr. C. Issac and third floor staff at Concordia Hospital during Mary's recent illness. Cremation has taken place, A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 9 at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. W., with interment at Transcona Cemetery. Rev.
