MARY RAE COGGAN (nee KELLIE) March 27, 1918 - May 6, 2006 Peacefully, with her loving family at her side, on May 6, 2006 at Riverview Health Centre. Rae will be much missed by her son Bill Cottick of Victoria, BC; her daughter-in-law Brenda McDonald and her husband Doug of Winnipeg, son-in-law Ron Coggan of Calgary, AB, son-in-law Donald Coggan and his wife Huguette of Bromont, Quebec, loving grandchildren, Kellie, Kimberley and Christopher Cottick, Rachel, Leah and Sarah McDonald and Rebecca, Christopher and Melanie Coggan, as well as numerous friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Mary Kellie, her brother Jim, her first husband Dr. Alex Cottick, her son Jim Cottick (at age 2); her husband Albert (Bert) Coggan, and her daughter-in-law Barbi Cottick. Rae was born in Souris, MB on March 27, 1918. She graduated from the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1941, obtained her Bachelor of Nursing degree from McGill University in 1963, and spent many years as a highly regarded public health nurse in various communities in Manitoba. Rae had an extraordinary passion for life and made life-long friends wherever she went. She loved adventure and travelled to many countries throughout the years, including extended trips to England, Europe, Australia, Africa and other parts of the world. She loved to socialize and dance. No matter what life handed her, she faced it with courage and a positive attitude, and instilled this joie de vivre in all those with whom she came in contact. The family would like to express their appreciation for the care and friendship shown by staff members on CD2 at the Riverview Health Centre where Rae lived for the past seven years, and to the staff of 4E where she spent her last few days. Friends may pay their respects at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Tuesday, May 9 between 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. A celebration of Rae's life will be held at the Chapel at the Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10 to be followed by a reception. A private interment will take place at St. Vital Cemetery.
