GEORGE DROBOT With great sadness, the family announces the passing on Sunday, May 7, 2006, of our father and grandfather, George Drobot, aged 87 years, of Selkirk, MB, formerly of Kirkness, MB, widower of the late Anne Drobot. George was born on May 6, 1919, in the farm community of Kirkness. In 1948 he married Anne Van der Kraak and together they lived, loved, laughed and were happy for nearly 54 years. Predeceased by his wife Anne in 2002, his granddaughter Stacey in 2000, his parents John and Elizabeth, brothers William, Nick, Bertie, Albert and Wilfred, and sisters Victoria, Frances, Dorothy and Kay. He is survived by his son Brian, daughter Linda Fox, son-in-law Harold and grandson Scott. He is also survived by sisters Ruth (Dyck) and Helen (Rozmus) and brothers Jack, Edward and Alex. George was born, raised and farmed in Kirkness all his life before moving into Betel Care Home in Selkirk in 2004. George served overseas in the Canadian Infantry Corps. during the Second World War. He had been a long time employee with the Manitoba Rolling Mills in Selkirk before retiring. He and Anne were avid auction sale enthusiasts and travelers often combining the two, covering much of Canada and the US in their trusty pickup camper . George's greatest delights in his life were his grandchildren, Stacey and Scott. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12 in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, with Deacon Alex Drobot officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0B9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
