Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRY PICKERING June 28, 1911 May 7, 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father and grandfather, Harry Pickering, on Sunday, May 7, 2006, at the Grace Hospital. Remaining with fond memories are his children, Allan (Helen), Don (Louise), Sharon (Stan) and Ken (Diane); seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister Kay; as well as two nieces and a nephew; and great- nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen (Kit) of 62 years; brother Tom; and sister Peggy. Harry was born, raised and educated in Winnipeg. He began employment with Trans Canada Airlines/Air Canada in 1938 and retired in 1971. Harry began war service on July 22, 1943, serving as Flight Engineer with the Canadian Government Trans-Atlantic Air Service on the Victory Runs flying between Dorval, QC and Prestwick, Scotland. He was a past president and life member of the Thistle Curling Club. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, May 11 at 10:30 a.m. in Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Ave. (Corner of Mount Royal Rd. and Ness Ave.). For those who wish, parking will be available in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church parking lot located on Ness Avenue. Our family would like to thank the staff on the 3rd floor at the Grace Hospital for the care and compassion that was provided. Additional thanks to the Homecare workers and staff at the Westhaven, where he resided to date, for the wonderful care and concern. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
