ORVILLE CARTER May 13, 1929 - May 4, 2006 After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Orville Carter passed away peacefully, with family by his side on May 4, 2006 at the Riverview Health Centre. Orville was predeceased by his parents Orrie and Anne Carter. Left behind to forever cherish his memory are his loving family, devoted wife Lois; sons Jeffrey, Brady (Trish) and Craig (Tamara); grandchildren, Anthony, Breen, Erin, Blake, Marshall; sister Mary (Dave) and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Orville was born on May 13, 1929 in Ochre River MB and grew up in surrounding areas. He served in the P.P.C.L.I. as a paratrooper in his early 20s before working in Ontario. Orville returned home to Ochre River, where he met his loving wife Lois. Together they settled in Dauphin and started their family. In 1968 the family permanently moved to Winnipeg where they resided in Fort Richmond for many years. Orville worked as a parts manager at Independent Equipment until his retirement. After living a few years in Richer, MB, Orville and Lois moved to Transcona to enjoy their retirement years. Orville was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed long drives in the country, was an avid gardening enthusiast, and loved nature. He enjoyed quiet times and a challenging game of cards. He was a very proud father who actively participated in the raising of his three sons and enjoyed his grandchildren immensely. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Riverview Palliative Care Unit for their excellent care and compassion exhibited during this difficult time. A memorial service is planned for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Orville's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, Cancer Care Manitoba or a charity of choice if so desired. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Lawn Funeral Home 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. 982-7550
