Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWAYNE ARTHUR DEANS Peacefully in Montreal, QC on Saturday, May 6, 2006. Wayne surrendered after a courageous battle with brain cancer at the age of 58. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Donna and his children, Jeffrey, Jennifer and Jillian. He is remembered by his brother, David (Jeanette); nephew David (Sylvie); and niece Debbie. He leaves to mourn close relatives and friends in Western Canada. Wayne was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB and graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1970. In addition to winning several scholarships, Wayne was the Gold Medal recipient in Commerce (Hons.) in his graduating year. He received his C.A. and became a member of the Manitoba Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1972. He was currently a member of both the Manitoba and Ontario Institutes. Wayne began his career with Touche Ross Co. in Winnipeg. He moved on to become Controller of a construction company before finding his passion as an auditor. He held the Position of Director of Internal Audit for the Canadian Railway in Montreal, QC for many years before accepting the position as Director of Internal Audit for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation in Sault Ste. Marie, ON in 1995. He had a philanthropic attitude and was the past President of the Montreal Oral School for the Deaf and the current treasurer of the Algoma Family Services Foundation, Sault Ste. Marie. He also gave freely of his time to assist and coach for the Sault Ste. Marie Ringette Association. He had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed golf and fishing, especially fly fishing. His children will long remember their many family adventures. Among his greatest attributes were his positive and optimistic approach to life and his ability to make friends wherever he went. He loved people and was well known for his friendly smile and kind words to all. A memorial service was held at the Arthur Funeral Home Cremation Centre, in Sault Ste. Marie, ON on Friday, May 12. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 27 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Manitoba Club, 194 Broadway, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Algoma Family Services Foundation in Sault Ste. Marie or to the Dr. Rolando Del Maestro Brain Tumor Research Centre at the Montreal Neurological Institute would be greatly appreciated.
