Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID H. DERKSEN 1922 - 2006 After a short illness, David H. Derksen, aged 84 years, of Horndean, MB passed away on May 11, 2006 at Boundary Trails Health Centre. He is survived by his loving wife Sue; one daughter Sandra (John) Kehler of Plum Coulee; three sons, Lorne and Ruth of Winnipeg, Ryan and Lynne of Letellier and Cliff and Mary of Winnipeg; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister Elma; two brothers, Herb (Elsie) and John. He was predeceased by his parents, David D. and Anne Derksen; as well as sisters, Helena and Edna. Dad was born on April 23, 1922 in the Plum Coulee district and resided in the Horndean and Rosenfeld area all his life. He attended school in Horndean before joining the family oil and lumber business. In 1939, he joined the Canadian Forces training as a signalman and serving overseas in Europe during the Second World War from 1940 to 1946. Upon his return, he rejoined the family business. He married Susan Reimer on June 9, 1946 and settled in Horndean. Over the years, Dad tried his hand at a variety of careers. He managed the bulk Imperial Oil dealership in Rosenfeld; served as a bus driver in the Rhineland School Division for many years; sold oil products for a Texas based oil company; did bookkeeping for JKW Construction as well as other bookkeeping and tax returns from his home. At his request, cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre for their kindness and consideration during dad's illness.
