MARY-ANN SCHREIBER A January baby, she was born in Melville, SK on the 24th day of 1959. With parents Helmut and Margaret, she and her sister Ramona moved to Stonewall, MB. There, she graduated from high school and built her first house. She had a passion for horses and loved participating in horse shows. Hardworking and striving to succeed, she rode Punky and Beauty , then listened to her class notes on cassette while cleaning the barn. Later pursuing environmental studies and botany of U of W, she graduated with a bachelor of science degree in December 1985, only a month before giving birth to Neena, her own January baby. A talented seamstress, embroiderer, artist and calligrapher, she was also an entrepreneur: first a line of dog clothing, and later Golden Key, an immigration consultation service. A most supportive mother and positive influence on many, she taught independence, a positive outlook, and the pursuit of equality while embracing individual differences. Somehow, she also found time for endless hours of selfless volunteering for which she did not seek recognition. Kindness was intertwined in all her actions. Mary-Ann was an awesome woman, whose beauty, originality and elegance were matched by her unique mind, wisdom and analytical intellect. In a world of routine, she made everything new and exciting, and effortlessly extracted valuable lessons. These were her greatest gifts and now her legacy. Her insights and creatively positive outlook on life were magical. She gave all that she could, and then an enormous amount more. She loved Channel No. 19, fish n' chips with Guinness, shoe shopping and the wilderness, but it was towards people that her fountain of love overflowed. She said, The world would be so much nicer if everyone acted like a friendly dog: never pass someone without acknowledging their presence and selflessly be there for those in need. In stressful times, she found peace in La dor va dor, From generation to generation we will speak of your greatness. Now part of her beloved nature, she nurtures the soil as the soil nurtures plants and flowers. May she rest in peace forever: her body relaxed and her mind at ease XOXO We love you Mary-Ann!!! XOXO As a lasting tribute friends may wish to contribute to a trust fund that will enable Neena to pursue dreams that Mary-Ann shared with her by contacting bgorlick@monkgoodwin.com
