RUTH MARIE HAMBLEY Ruth passed away in Ottawa Civic Hospital on January 25, 2006 at the age of 103 years. She was a schoolteacher as a young woman prior to her marriage on January 12, 1924 to John Joseph (Jack) Hambley. Jack predeceased her, as did her eldest son Bruce (Lil). She leaves her other two children, Marion (Phil) of Ottawa, ON and Bryan (Jo) of White Rock, BC; as well as her nine grandchildren, Janet, Judy, Nancy, Gail, John, Patti, Jayne, Lisa, and Ian; and nine great-grandchildren. Ruth lived a wonderfully full life composed of many cherished friendships, numerous trips all over the world, and involvement in the I.O.D.E., Summerland Seniors Group, Lawn Bowling Club, and St. Andrew's River Heights United Church. She frequently entertained in her home, sewed, cooked, baked, played her beloved piano, and read to keep up with world events. She was keenly interested in those around her, never missing a family birthday or anniversary. Her birthday cards with a few dollars tucked in were a special treat enjoyed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth's ability to remember dates and details long past, an example of her keen intellect and memory, was often a source of amazement and admiration amongst those who knew her. Most of all Ruth led her life by example, clearly demonstrating her faith and values. She left her family with a great example of a wonderful life. Her grandchildren invite you to a service of remembrance on May 20 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Andrew's River Heights United Church, Winnipeg.
