CLARA KAROLINE HORBATY (nee KITCHEN) July 25,1931 - May 10, 2006 Peacefully at the Selkirk General Hospital with her family at her side, Clara Horbaty passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2006. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Joyce (Donald) Zalusky, John (Mary), Pat (Rea) Pennington and Michael (Laurance); her grandchildren, Angela (Richard), Adam (Mandy), Dana (Jeff), Erin (Jordon), Brad, Ted (Danica) and Nancy (Mirek); her great-grandchildren, Holly, Aubrie, Jaxen, Camryn, Troy, Breanne, Thomas and Tyler; her close friend Vi Knight; nephew Harry (Bonnie) and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mom was predeceased by her parents, her husband John in 1970; brothers, John and Wilfred; sister Elsie; great-grandson Alexander; and her beloved dog Buffie. Mom grew up in Stony Point (Patricia Beach) until she married and moved to the farm in Libau, where she lived until moving to Tyndall in 2001. When John died at an early age Clara not only raised her family by herself but had to go out into the workforce. She worked with the dietary staff at the Selkirk General Hospital as well as Big 4, S.O.S. and Factory Outlet before retiring. Mom loved her car rides, berry picking, gardening, watching her birds and especially her casino trips. She was devoted to her dog Buffie. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, May 15 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation, CancerCare, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Demsas and all the nurses and staff at the Selkirk General Hospital for all their care and compassion. Special thanks to Harry and Bonnie for always being there for Mom and taking her out every Saturday. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
