FRITZ-HEINZ HELLMUTH M.D. (April 4, 1925 - May 8, 2006) Peacefully with his family at his side, Dr. Fritz-Heinz Hellmuth passed away at the Grace Hospital. He will be forever remembered by his wife of 51 years, Elisabeth; children, Dr. Frieder Hellmuth Timpe (Dr. Eva Dankoweit) in Germany, Ulrike Hellmuth-Curtis (Frank Curtis) and Tina Hellmuth (Dave Najduch) of Winnipeg, and Katherine Hellmuth (Mario Mantaci) in Italy; grandchildren, Robert and Anna Timpe in Germany, Michele and James Najduch of Winnipeg, and Elisabeth Mantaci in Italy. Fritz was born in Berlin and completed his Doctor of Medicine in Kiel, Germany. In 1956 he immigrated to the United States and Canada specializing as a Radiation Oncologyst. He was a caring and dedicated physician at the Cancer Foundations of the Health Sciences Centre, St. Boniface Hospital and in Thunder Bay, ON for over 25 years. In 1972, he was invited to lecture and practise in Seoul, Korea for a year. Although he was a very busy physician he had a passion for electronics, ham radio operation, computer building, photography, and reading exhaustively on a variety of topics. He retired from medicine in 1985 to pursue his dream of writing a book in the field of metaphysics. He was a perfectionist in all aspects of his life. Precision was paramount and this was demonstrated in the building of the family cottage in Pinawa Bay where he spent over 30 summers. He loved to travel and extensively explored the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. All trips were well researched and he filled the house with fascinating souvenirs. He provided his family with guidance, a good work ethic and a lifelong appreciation of learning. The family would like to thank the staff on the second and fourth floor of the Grace Hospital for their care during the past month. Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Fritz's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9.
