HENRY (HEINZ) DIETER SCHMIDT Following a lengthy illness Henry Schmidt passed away on May 12, 2006 at the Simkin Centre in Winnipeg. Henry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Ann; his sons, Randolph (Patricia), Mark (Tamara) their children, Stephanie, Madison and Markus; and daughter Karen (Ian) their children, Brett, Krystin, Samantha and Sydney. He is also survived by his younger sister Renata (Heinz Martin) in Wiesbaden, Germany. Henry was born on August 7, 1926 in Lippstadt, Germany. After graduation from Civil Engineering in Germany, he immigrated to Canada in 1952. Most of his professional career was with the firm of GBR in Winnipeg, working on building construction inspection throughout western Canada. Construction and architecture were passions of his. Henry also loved to travel to sunny locations and travel with his sister and family in Europe. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards with his friends and loved to get out of the city to a park for a walk or a picnic often with the family dog. He will be sadly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at the Simkin Centre for all their compassion and unwavering support through this most difficult time. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Inkster with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating.
