Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPEARL GERTRUDE KOWALSKI Peacefully with her family at her side, Gertie Kowalski, aged 83 years, of Gimli, MB, passed away on May 11, 2006 at the Gimli Community Health Center. Gertie was predeceased by her husband Antonius (Tony) on April 14, 2005, a daughter Antonette, brother Johnny and stepsister Emily. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Cecilia Eiers (Tony) of Winnipeg and Florence Franz (Ron) of Gimli; grandchildren Elaine (Blair), Edward, Kevin, Sheryl, Jeffrey and Michelle; great-grandchildren Kaylee, Graem, Kelsey and Brayden; brothers Stanley (Martha) and Teddy; sisters Nellie Bezdietny, Susan Golko (Mike), Vanda McDonald (Eddy) and Matilda Luprypa; sisters-in-law, Mary Matheson and Helen Kowalski; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gertie was born in Gimli on December 24, 1922 and had lived and farmed in the area all her life. Besides helping on the farm she also worked at B.C. Packers in Gimli for 17 years and then worked for Dockside Fish in Gimli for 18 years before retiring. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, knitting, crocheting and playing cards. She loved to cook (the greatest perogies) and her door was always open to friends and family who never left hungry even if just stopping for a brief visit. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednedsay May 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Michaels's Roman Catholic Church, Gimli with viewing for one hour prior to service. Fr. Art Seaman will officiate. Interment will follow in the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery. Her grandchildren will be her pallbearers. The family thanks the staff at Betel Home for the excellent care given to Mom for the past six years, to the nurses and staff at the Gimli Hospital and special thanks to the Pytel family who was so very good to Mom. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli in care of arrangements.
