CONSTANCE (CONNIE) LAWRENCE (WIDDOWSON)

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCONSTANCE (CONNIE) LAWRENCE (nee WIDDOWSON) Peacefully on May 12, 2006, Connie Lawrence passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 90. Connie will be sadly missed by her family, loving husband, Herb; children, Paul (Eva) of Calgary and Heather Milan (Bob) of Winnipeg; grandson, Kelly Milan (Sharon) of Winnipeg; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Heather and Bryan Milan and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Brock; her sister, Ethel Carlisle; brothers-in-law, Ivan Carlisle, Charlie Lawrence; sisters-in-law, Marguerite Lawrence and Ethel Lawrence. Connie was born on January 13, 1916 to parents, Mary and Harry Widdowson in Souris, MB. She was educated in Brandon and Souris. After graduating from business college in Winnipeg, she began work at the Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Co. in Wawanesa where she met Herb, the love of her life. They were married in 1939 and shared a wonderful long life together of 66 years. Connie will be lovingly remembered for her sharp wit, her love of socializing, singing, travelling, bird watching, sewing, crafts, reading; also for her apple crisp, shortbread and apple pies. Connie and Herb moved to Winnipeg in 1998 and lived most of the following years at The Wellington which has been a very supportive place for them. Thanks to The Wellington staff. Connie spent the last six months of her life at West Park Manor. Thanks to their staff for their wonderful care. Thank you also to the Grace Hospital staff who kindly cared for her in her final hours. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Wawanesa United Church on Thursday, May 18 at 1:00 p.m. The family will inter the ashes at Wawanesa Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca Remembrances may be made to Wawanesa United Church or to a charity of choice in Connie's memory.
