Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNELL OWENS (nee TATE) Peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at the Douglas Campbell Lodge, Portage la Prairie, Nell Owens, age 89 years, widow of Donald George Owens passed away. A treasure to so many, she will be deeply missed by her daughter Beverley; son-in-law Donald Lamb; grandchildren, Jason (Mary) Lamb, Corey (Bridget) Lamb and Deidre (Marc) Pitt; great grandchildren, sister-in-law Marg Tate; nieces, nephews, many good friends and hundreds of students throughout the Portage area. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Tuesday evening, May 16 at 7:30 p.m., at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place on Wednesday morning, May 17 at 11:00 a.m. If you wish to join the family for the burial, please gather at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel at 10:45 for the procession to Hillside Cemetery. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity United Church on Wednesday, May 17 with reception to follow. Rev. Ross Taylor is to lead the service. To honour Nell, contributions may be made in her memory to the Nell Owens Cup for Excellence in Writing , c/o Norma Johnston, Portage la Prairie School Division, 535 Third Street NW, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 2C4. This scholarship was set up by Nell at the time of her retirement and has been given out at P.C.I. each year since.
