Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLYDIA (KIT) MEGILL On May 12, 2006 Lydia Kit Megill, nee Meyer passed away peacefully in the company of family at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 92 years. Kit was born on August 22, 1913 in Winnipeg, was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to all. She spent many years working in the garment industry in Winnipeg where she fought vigorously for the working conditions and rights of her co-workers gaining the respect and admiration of management and workers alike. Kit was a dedicated member of the Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans Association, Unit 60 where she served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary for over 10 years. She organized many fundraising activities for members as well as dances, trips and cruises. One of her proudest moments was when she was presented with a Lifetime Membership for her many years of dedication and service by the ANAF. She was an avid sports fan, often watching her Blue Jays on television while, at the same time listening to her beloved Blue Bombers on the radio. Kit loved afternoon jam sessions, travelling, dancing at Club 60, black Russians, but most of all spending time with her family and many friends. Kit leaves to mourn her beloved daughter Janice Charman; son-in-law Brian of Calgary, AB; daughter-in-law Darlene of Red Deer, AB; grandchildren, Jason, Kerri, Ken, Karman and five great-grandchildren. Kit will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Elsie Blakeley of Winnipeg, Dorothy (Warren) Greenwell of Concord, CA and Loretta (Alex) Naften of Winnipeg; brother-in-law Brian (Therese) of Medicine Hat AB; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Kit was predeceased by her husband Norquay (Hooley), her son David, brother David Meyer and sisters, Freda King and Lee Murray. A Celebration of Kit's life will be held at the Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans, Fort Gary Unit 60, 280 Fort St., Winnipeg, MB at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 18.
